Bram Quak
"A very rewarding and fulfilling career"
In his 13 years with Heerema, Project Manager Bram Quak has worked all over the world. After his studies, he wanted to work in the offshore industry and joined Heerema Fabrication Group. After finishing his training program, he showed interest in working on a 14-month's project in Singapore. Well, that’s where he went.
After his return from Singapore, Bram worked on an offshore project for a while and later for some nine months in London and Newcastle. His next assignment was an 11-month job in Dubai, an international project on which he worked with Indian, British, American and Filipino colleagues.
Working on a project from early design to installation and through to start-up is what Bram likes best. So he prefers to work on projects that last as long as up to three years. He is in his element acting as Heerema’s local representative, looking after the company's interests.
In 2009, Bram temporarily worked for Heerema Marine Contractors on a project for Angola, which he had to visit frequently. Now, back at HFG, he is already looking forward to his next international project. Although now that he has a young daughter, Bram has indicated that he likes to go on a project where he can take his wife and child along. Luckily, at Heerema, such is possible, too.
“This is a fascinating company to work for. A beautiful product, a multi-disciplinary organization, a truly international scope. Each project is different: new client, new location, new product. You have to be inventive and creative and able to react to changes quickly. But it has really helped me grow as a professional. At Heerema, you just have to be proactive and create your own opportunities. If you are willing to put in the work you can have a very rewarding and fulfilling career.”
